A new company called Baseline Therapeutics is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statnews.com\/2026\/01\/27\/biotech-news-glp-1-drug-for-addiction-startup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">studying<\/a> a GLP-1 receptor agonist in alcohol, cocaine, and methamphetamine use disorders; Altimmune is testing one called <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.altimmune.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/altimmune-announces-positive-topline-results-reclaim-phase-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">pemvidutide<\/a> for alcohol. Addiction medicine specialists are hopeful that the Food and Drug Administration may soon approve a new medication for alcohol use disorder \u2014 the first in two decades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But some telehealth platforms that specialize in treating addiction aren\u2019t waiting.
