Hayley Williams<\/a> has defended Fontaines D.C.<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Dopamine Chamber<\/a>\u2019 against criticism from some \u201cguys on the internet\u201d, saying that they can\u2019t accept that the band are \u201cmulti-faceted and stylistically versatile\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Dublin rock giants released their fifth album last week (Friday October 16) \u2013 marking the follow-up to 2024\u2019s acclaimed and Mercury<\/a>-nominated \u2018Romance<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Already, the album has had a huge wave of praise from fans and critics alike, particularly for tracks including the lead single \u2018Marianne\u2019<\/a>, eerie track \u2018Tongue<\/a>\u2019, and cinematic collab with Rosal\u00eda, \u2018Where Is Gone?\u2019.<\/a> Not all fans have been enthusiastic, however, and there has been a small handful of people online who have voiced that they prefer Fontaines\u2019 earlier material instead.<\/p>\n

Now, Hayley Williams has voiced her love of \u2018Dopamine Chamber\u2019 and said that those who are throwing some backlash towards the record simply accept that the band are \u201cmulti-faceted and stylistically versatile\u201d.<\/p>\n

Taking to Substack<\/a> to share her thoughts on music she is enjoying at the moment, the Paramore singer shared: \u201cNew Fontaines is so good if you\u2019re not one of those guys on the internet who can\u2019t conceptualise that great bands are made of people who are multi-faceted and stylistically versatile.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWish I wrote some of these choruses, wish I wrote any of this poetry,\u201d she said, adding that her favourite songs on the LP were \u2018Demolition\u2019 and Happy For You\u2019.<\/p>\n

Referencing her upcoming support slot at their huge run of outdoor shows in summer 2027<\/a>, Williams wrote: \u201cCannot wait to open for them so much next year at Laneway and Slane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other artists who got a shoutout on the Substack entry included Remi Wolf<\/a>, Troye Sivan<\/a>, Tinashe<\/a>, and Step 2 This.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo much new music right now, I\u2019m very happy. So much that isn\u2019t quite as popular or big name-d as most of these I highlighted,\u201d she concluded. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ll do another post later with some smaller bands and artists I\u2019m digging at the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Dopamine Chamber\u2019 was given a five-star review from NME<\/a>, which praised it as a \u201cdark but exhilarating reflection of end times\u201d.<\/p>\n

Frontman Grian Chatten<\/a> has also opened up about how it was a \u201ccareer high\u201d to work with Rosal\u00eda<\/a> on the record, and the band played an intimate gig at London\u2019s Roundhouse <\/a>last week, which raised money for mental health charity CALM<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since the record dropped, Chatten has also hinted at a new solo album on the way<\/a>, and said that once Fontaines have played their huge upcoming shows, \u201cthe best place [they] can go from here is away for a while\u201d.<\/p>\n

Their upcoming tour will see them play some huge concerts in the UK and Ireland<\/a>, including two nights at Slane Castle<\/a> and a double-header at Manchester\u2019s Heaton Park<\/a>. Alongside Williams, support also comes from Little Simz<\/a> and Viagra Boys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They recently announced new concerts in Italy and Germany as part of their 2027 trek<\/a>, as well as dates in Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Last week, it was confirmed that Fontaines D.C. will headline Primavera Sound in Barcelona next June<\/a>.<\/p>\n
