In my dream I see a tsunami. Every day and night. For almost four years, since the launch of Yariv Levin’s judicial overhaul on January 4, 2023, and even more so since the calamity of October 7.<\/p>\n

The calamity that the head of research at Military Intelligence, the late Amit Sa’ar, warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about four times (“convergence of fronts”). And the Israel Defense Forces’ then-Chief of Staff Herzl Halevi begged to warn about it before the cabinet, only to be rebuffed repeatedly.<\/p>\n

Then head of the Shin Bet security service, Ronen Bar, insisted on drawing Netanyahu’s attention to prevent the disaster<\/a>; in February 2023, and again in September, he called the impending attack a “perfect storm.” Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar called his invasion plan the “Al-Aqsa flood.” So I dream about a perfect storm and a flood and a tsunami.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Close A protest against the Netanyahu government’s attempts to overhaul Israel’s judiciary in Tel Aviv in 2023.
