Judi Dench<\/a> said a degenerative eye condition has made it so that she can no longer read or perform. In 2012, Dench was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration, which affects a person\u2019s central vision and is the leading cause of vision loss in older adults, per the National Eye Institute. In an interview with BBC Radio 4\u2019s Today<\/a>, the 91-year-old actress said that she copes with the loss of her vision by not thinking about it \u201ctoo much.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t be on stage,\u201d Dench said in an interview promoting her memoir Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It? \u201cI can\u2019t do a play any more. I can\u2019t do a film any more. I can\u2019t read any more.\u201d The actress said that she couldn\u2019t see the interviewer\u2019s face \u201cat all.\u201d Dench\u2019s condition means that she occasionally goes up to the wrong person and gives them \u201can enormous hug\u201d before realizing her mistake and apologizing.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to adjust to all that and you make allowances for it and just get on,\u201d Dench said. \u201cAnd don\u2019t think about it too much.\u201d The Oscar winner said that aging in general is \u201crubbish\u201d and that \u201cthere\u2019s nothing to say for it at all.\u201d Her advice? \u201cDon\u2019t think about it too much and just keep on trying to do the roller skates and whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n
