{"id":656379,"date":"2026-10-25T05:58:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-25T05:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/656379\/"},"modified":"2026-10-25T05:58:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-25T05:58:13","slug":"elvis-presley-rightsholders-sue-anthropic-for-training-on-274-songs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/656379\/","title":{"rendered":"Elvis Presley Rightsholders Sue Anthropic for Training on 274 Songs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe owners of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/elvis-presley\/\" id=\"auto-tag_elvis-presley\" data-tag=\"elvis-presley\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Elvis Presley<\/a>\u2019s music have sued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ai\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ai\" data-tag=\"ai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI<\/a> company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/anthropic\/\" id=\"auto-tag_anthropic\" data-tag=\"anthropic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anthropic<\/a>, accusing them of training their models on Presley\u2019s music without permission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBillboard first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/pro\/elvis-presley-estate-sues-suno-anthropic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reported<\/a> that Authentic Brands Group, the licensing group that controls the King\u2019s music and likeness, filed its lawsuit Friday, alleges that Anthropic \u2014 the AI giant behind Claude \u2014 infringed on the rights of 274 of Presley\u2019s songs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAI companies have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/record-labels-sue-music-generators-suno-and-udio-1235042056\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previously faced lawsuits<\/a> from record labels like Universal and Warner Bros. as well as the RIAA, but this marks one of the first major instances where an artist\u2019s estate has brought legal action against an AI company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThe Elvis Plaintiffs bring this action to enforce these exclusive rights against the defendant that has built its entire business model based on copyright infringement at a scale never seen before,\u201d lead attorney Richard Busch wrote. \u201cThe Elvis Plaintiffs are deeply protective of these iconic songs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe ABE EPE LLC v. Anthropic lawsuit states that the AI company trained on 274 of Presley\u2019s songs \u2014 from hits like \u201cAll Shook Up,\u201d \u201cCan\u2019t Help Falling in Love,\u201d and \u201cDon\u2019t Be Cruel\u201d to lesser-known tracks. The lawsuit is seeking $150,000 per infringed track, or roughly $41 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201c\u2018Claude\u2019 has created infringing output of copyrighted material of virtually every song from every catalog available on the internet, including the Works,\u201d the lawsuit states. \u201cEven after the Defendant supposedly put up \u2018guardrails\u2019 after being sued, in one of its latest iterations, Claude continues to infringe: when recently asked to recreate specific songs \u2018for a modern audience,\u2019 Claude did so and admitted: \u2018These renders keep landing very close to the originals: same structure, same hooks reused with light rewording, and full sets of verses\/choruses\/bridges.
