\n\tMonths after Elon Musk<\/a> promised that his AI tool Grok Imagine would create an entirely AI-generated, feature-length version of \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>,\u201d the tech mogul has partially followed through on the claim.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Friday, the company shared the first 7-minute, AI-generated episode of the \u201cOdyssey\u201d series on X<\/a>. The account also credited the \u201ccreative collaboration\u201d to Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, both of which specialize in AI filmmaking.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn July, Musk announced plans<\/a> to make a \u201chistorically accurate\u201d full-length feature version of Homer\u2019s ancient Greek poem. He noted that his AI \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d would be ready by the end of 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBefore this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,\u201d he wrote, together with an AI-generated 3-minute short of \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d posted by an X user.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the time, \u201cDoctor Strange\u201d and \u201cThe Black Phone\u201d director Scott Derrickson<\/a> pulled no punches and addressed Musk directly<\/a> on social media to call out the absurdity of the project. \u201cClearly @elonmusk doesn\u2019t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s,\u201d Derrickson wrote on Musk\u2019s social media platform, X. \u201cHis opinions on art are worthless.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile no further statement accompanied the AI-generated episode \u2014 or Musk\u2019s original tweet about creating a \u201chistorically accurate\u201d version of \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d \u2014 the move comes after the tech trillionaire repeatedly criticized the film ahead of its release, especially the casting of Elliot Page as Achilles\u2019 Ghost and Lupita Nyong\u2019o as Helen of Troy. <\/p>\n

\n\tMusk claimed that Nolan cast both actors to satisfy the Academy\u2019s representation and inclusion standards for Oscar eligibility<\/a>; in March, he wrote that \u201cChris Nolan is an anti-White racist,\u201d saying he cast Nyong\u2019o only because \u201cHe wants the awards.\u201d<\/p>\n
