The deadline for submissions to the Prix Pascal de Litt\u00e9rature\u00a0IA, 30\u00a0November, is also the date when the shortlisted entries are due to be announced (New prize launches for books co-written with AI, 21\u00a0October<\/a>). It would be interesting to know how the prize-judging jury \u2013 whose members are yet to be announced \u2013 will be making\u00a0instant\u00a0evaluations.

One of the delights of travelling through Suffolk in the last century was the Dickensian firm of solicitors evoked by a road sign on the A140 just outside Eye, pointing\u00a0west to Yaxley, Mellis and Stramit (Letters, 20 October<\/a>). It is long gone, replaced by a shinier one, but only Yaxley and Mellis remain. Clearly no longer a partner, whither Stramit?

Can I commend the Great Tapestry of Scotland in Galashiels to all those disappointed Hastings residents (Residents of \u20181066 Country\u2019 lose battle for Bayeux tapestry tickets, 21 October<\/a>)? No queues and, to my mind, far more impressive than its French\u00a0counterpart.
