The R&B singer Chris Brown<\/a> has been given a suspended sentence after striking a man twice in the head with a tequila bottle in a central London club.<\/p>\n

Brown, 37, admitted affray<\/a> earlier this year after attacking a former friend with a \u201cheavy\u201d tequila bottle on the dancefloor at the Tape private members\u2019 club in Mayfair in February 2023.<\/p>\n

Brown was sentenced to eight months\u2019 imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, at Southwark crown court on Monday. His vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu, 40, who joined the attack, was sentenced to four months\u2019 imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and both men were ordered to pay \u00a31,500 costs.<\/p>\n

In front of a packed public gallery, the singer sat looking at the floor in the dock for much of the hearing.<\/p>\n

Judge Baumgartner called the attack \u201cplainly dangerous\u201d and warned that \u201ccommercial success does not attract preferential treatment\u201d in court.<\/p>\n

In sentencing, he said: \u201cThe repeated use of a glass bottle in that way, especially aimed at the head, was plainly dangerous. It carried the risk of delivering a more serious injury than was ultimately sustained.\u201d<\/p>\n

CCTV footage was shown in which Brown was seen striking Abraham Diaw four times with the bottle, connecting twice with his head and then hitting his shoulder.<\/p>\n

Heidi Stonecliffe KC, prosecuting, told the court Brown used a \u201cheavy square-shaped tequila bottle\u201d to \u201chit Mr Diaw twice over the left-hand side of his head\u201d. He rained down \u201cfurther blows\u201d as Diaw turned away, the court heard.<\/p>\n

Stonecliffe said Akinlolu then grabbed Diaw in a \u201cbear hug\u201d. She said: \u201cMr Diaw falls to the ground and Mr Brown is also seen throwing punches.\u201d<\/p>\n

In another clip, Brown, from California, could be seen being pulled away from the victim.
