Stock futures were little changed early Tuesday following a winning session on Wall Street, with traders looking ahead to a slew of corporate earnings while the Federal Reserve gets set to begin its two-day policy meeting. <\/p>\n
S&P 500 futures<\/a> were marginally higher, while Dow Jones Industrial Average futures<\/a> gained 123 points, or around 0.2%. Nasdaq-100 futures<\/a> added 0.1%.<\/p>\n In Asia, Japan’s\u00a0Nikkei 225<\/a>\u00a0rose 1.7% while the Topix gained 0.4%. South Korea’s Kospi<\/a> advanced 3.8% and the tech-focused, small-cap Kosdaq gained 2.9%. Australia’s benchmark S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> was 0.32% lower.<\/p>\n Wall Street kicked off the week on a solid note. The Dow<\/a> climbed 146.42 points, or 0.3%. The S&P 500<\/a> gained 0.7%, while the Nasdaq Composite<\/a> advanced 0.8% as tech shares outperformed. The artificial intelligence trade got a boost after Anthropic filed to go public<\/a> at the Nasdaq. This would mark another major tech IPO for 2026, following SpaceX’s blockbuster listing in June.<\/p>\n Tesla<\/a> shares advanced more than 5%, while Nvidia<\/a> climbed 2%. Microsoft<\/a> and Amazon<\/a> also rose on the day. <\/p>\n Those gains come as the artificial intelligence trade has faced pressure from investors worried companies in the space are borrowing too much cash to fund their AI build-outs. <\/p>\n On Tuesday, traders will pore through a deluge of third-quarter earnings reports. Coca-Cola, Robinhood and Boeing are among the companies set to post results. Tech giants Microsoft, Alphabet and Amazon are due out later in the week. <\/p>\n The Fed is also set to kick off its latest monetary policy meeting. While the central bank is expected to keep rates unchanged, traders will look for clues on whether another rate hike will take place before year-end. <\/p>\n “If, as expected, there is no change in rates, it will still be interesting to see what the vote is after the swings in the last two meetings,” wrote Thomas Block, Washington policy strategist at Fundstrat. “While the Fed views itself above partisan politics, it would be unlikely that the Fed would move rates a week before a national election.”<\/p>\n On the economic front, traders will be watching for durable orders, consumer confidence data and the new home sales report.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Traders work at the New York Stock Exchange on May 7, 2026.
