Eloy Casagrande has spoken about what fans can expect from Slipknot<\/a>\u2019s upcoming album, saying that they are \u201cnot thinking about business\u201d and instead prioritising \u201cmaking real music\u201d.<\/p>\n

The masked metal icons returned last month with the surprise single \u2018Arsenal\u2019 <\/a>\u2013 their first new music in three years, and first since the departure of Sid Wilson<\/a> and the joining of drummer Casagrande<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since it dropped, Corey Taylor<\/a> and co. have announced their \u2018(sic)est Stadium Tour\u2019, which kicks off in 2027<\/a> and features support from Marilyn Manson<\/a>, Bring Me The Horizon<\/a> and more. Guitarist Jim Root has also been dropping hints that a full album is on the way, but unlikely to feature \u2018Arsenal\u2019<\/a> on the tracklist.<\/p>\n

Now, Casagrande has given another status update on the upcoming, Matt Wallace-produced eighth album<\/a>, explaining that it will be \u201cspecial\u201d and feature \u201creal music\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are doing a lot of songs. Many, many songs,\u201d he told Radi\u00f3nica. \u201cI cannot explain for you what exactly we are doing in the studio right now. But, what I can say is that the band is really happy with the music that we created so far. Everyone\u2019s in a very good vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWe are doing what feels right for us to do at the moment and we are being very honest to all the fans. That\u2019s it. We are making real music; we are not thinking about business. We are not thinking about if the people are gonna like it or not.<\/p>\n

\u201cNowadays, you see a lot of artists thinking about the future; if they\u2019re going to sell well or not [and] if they\u2019re going to be able to play in huge arenas or not. That\u2019s the opposite that we\u2019re doing here. We are focusing on doing something that we like [and] that we feel proud of what we are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Casagrande also spoke about how his background in Brazilian music will most likely seep into the new Slipknot material, explaining that it is \u201cimpossible to be a different person\u201d behind the drum kit, regardless of which band he\u2019s in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just one person, so it\u2019s impossible for me [not to] bring that Brazilian influence\u2026 that\u2019s something that I cannot get rid of,\u201d he shared. \u201cOf course I\u2019m not playing like a traditional Brazilian band. I\u2019m evolving to fit into the Slipknot world, but I\u2019m still able to still have my DNA and to express myself in the band.\u201d<\/p>\n

Casagrande\u2019s comments about making \u201creal music\u201d and not getting too lost in fulfilling fan expectations echo what Root said about the upcoming album at the end of last month \u2013 sharing that what feels most important to the band in 2026 is that they don\u2019t \u201crepeat ourselves\u201d or try to replicate any of their earlier records<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really experimenting with different approaches. Don\u2019t expect another \u2018Iowa\u2019 or self titled record. We\u2019ve been there,\u201d the guitarist said. \u201cThe vibe feels honest and true to me. It\u2019s uneasy and reminds me of recording in the earlier days. I\u2019m not saying that means it will translate to the type of music we\u2019re creating or the sound\/production of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Root also looked back at the mixed response to their last album, 2022\u2019s \u2018The End, So Far<\/a>\u2019, saying that while \u201csome good stuff came from it\u201d, the process of writing during the COVID pandemic ultimately led to it sounding \u201cdisjointed and a mess\u201d.<\/p>\n

While Slipknot haven\u2019t released an album since 2022, they did tease a new song, \u2018Long May You Die\u2019<\/a>, recorded shortly after Casagrande joined in 2024, replacing Jay Weinberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Before they dropped \u2018Arsenal\u2019, the band also finally released their long-awaited \u2018lost\u2019 album \u2018Look Outside Your Window\u2019<\/a> for this year\u2019s Record Store Day<\/a>. A full series of physical editions<\/a> followed later.<\/p>\n

Their upcoming tour features their only UK and European show, set to take place at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium on July 3.
