The hotel has officially launched its new Technogym set-up, chosen after long consideration of what guests and island members need to support their health and fitness.<\/p>\n
\u2018Ultimately, what we\u2019re trying to do is be more than just a standard or typical hotel gym, so that when you walk into the gym at St Pierre Park, or any other Hand Picked hotel, you know that it\u2019s been taken seriously, it\u2019s been thought about,\u2019 said Ian Potter, head of health clubs at Hand Picked Hotels.<\/p>\n
\u2018The reason for choosing Technogym is because it\u2019s about the innovation and always moving forward, looking at what people need.\u2019<\/p>\n
At the heart of the system is a \u2018check-up\u2019 assessment, which Technogym\u2019s hospitality and residential account manager Euan Howard described as \u2018the real entry point into a member\u2019s wellness journey’.<\/p>\n
\u2018It enables them to get a snapshot in time of where their health is today,\u2019 he explained.<\/p>\n
As well as weight and body composition, it measures flexibility, mobility and balance. Those results are then linked to every workout station in the gym, which generates a personalised programme and adjusts itself to suit the user\u2019s body and goals.<\/p>\n
\u2018Every time they go onto a workout station, it\u2019s personalised to them, right down to seat position. <\/p>\n
\u2018So when you do your mobility test on the check up, it will analyse your body and then make sure that when you go onto a machine, it\u2019s at the right setting for the length of your levers.\u2019<\/p>\n
Mr Howard said the system suited everyone from people new to the gym to those wanting more performance-focused training.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is simple for the user to use.<\/p>\n
‘But the technology behind it is not so simple. It doesn\u2019t use your traditional plates of weight. <\/p>\n
\u2018It uses electromagnets to reduce resistance, which is a similar technology they use up in space with NASA,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
