Liev Schreiber owned up to his intense behavior at the \u201cNocturne\u201d premiere last week, apologizing for scolding a red carpet reporter. <\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t do well,\u201d the Emmy-winning \u201cRay Donovan\u201d and \u201cSpotlight\u201d star said while recalling his side of the viral red carpet exchange<\/a> for \u201cLate Night with Seth Meyers\u201d on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe hit my Achilles\u2019 heel,\u201d Schreiber explained later in his late-night segment.<\/p>\n

His exchange with an Apple TV reporter sparked headlines last week, with the actor berating the reporter on video for her question during his series\u2019 Hollywood premiere. The 59-year-old star appeared to take issue with the reporter asking him to describe \u201cNocturne\u201d in three words. He could be seen apparently telling the reporter to \u201ctalk to people like they value what they do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThree words isn\u2019t gonna do anything for anybody and the monkey who f\u2014 thought of that is shooting themselves in the foot,\u201d he says in the video. \u201cIt\u2019s not a f\u2014 sound bite, especially when we\u2019re doing it in-house for our own people.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further suggested that the reporter \u201cengage\u201d with the individuals involved in the project, which is an Apple TV production.<\/p>\n

During his late-night appearance, Schreiber made it quite clear he has a bone to pick with increasingly reductive language, lamenting the use of emojis to communicate thoughts. The Tony winner, directing<\/a> William Shakespeare\u2019s \u201cMeasure for Measure\u201d for the USC School of Dramatic Arts, spoke on Monday about \u201cwhat a responsibility it is to articulate\u201d and joked, \u201cI might not be the best person on the press line that ever was on the press line.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schreiber said he\u2019s now \u201cat that age where I don\u2019t do things terribly quickly\u201d and fessed up to his \u201cterrible tirade about monkeys and profanity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI apologize,\u201dhe said, adding he and the reporter smoothed things over and ultimately engaged in a \u201cgreat\u201d conversation about the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cNocturne\u201d stars Schreiber, \u201cAtlanta\u201d alumna Zazie Beetz and Emmy winner Stephen Graham and begins streaming Friday.
