The Marvel Cinematic Universe has allowed some of Marvel Comics’ most engaging and iconic heroes to come to life on the big screen like never before, but for as many legendary heroes who have received their very own live-action adaptations, there are still so many who have not.

Some of Marvel’s greatest heroes have still only been seen in the pages of the comic book source material, and that’s a real shame. These 10 Marvel heroes in particular stand out as the perfect examples of incredible characters who have yet to appear in live-action, but wholeheartedly deserve to do so.

Valeria Richards Is A Vital Part Of The Modern Fantastic Four

The live-action history of the Fantastic Four isn’t exactly the greatest. While Marvel’s First Family finally got the proper adaptation they deserve in the form of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, there’s still a long way to go before their live-action iterations become as essential to the MCU as their comic counterparts are to the Marvel Comics Universe.

If the Fantastic Four are going to continue to grow into live-action icons, though, the introduction of Valeria Richards is essential. Franklin Richards, Valeria’s older brother, was born in First Steps, and he is sure to play a vital role in Doctor Doom’s plans in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, but the brilliant daughter of Reed Richards and Susan Storm would bring a new kind of insight to the team. Her relationship with Doctor Doom in the comics is one of the most interesting and complex in Marvel’s entire history, and Valeria would make a perfect addition to the live-action FF.

Ares Is A Meaner, More Complex Marvel God

"Ares

Let’s face it, Chris Hemsworth isn’t going to be playing Thor forever, and, instead of recasting, the MCU is likely to simply replace the character altogether. That means that a character like Ares, the God of War, would be a perfect addition to the live-action Marvel realm. A supremely powerful but morally gray Marvel god, Ares has been a vital part of countless Marvel Comics stories.

His position as one of the Mighty Avengers, followed by his enrollment in Norman Osborn’s Dark Avengers, has made Ares an incredibly complex and compelling character, and it’s a real surprise that he has yet to come to live-action in any form. Brutal combat and uniquely strange interpersonal drama is sure to arise whenever Ares is brought to life, and fans are in for a real treat when it finally happens.

The Stepford Cuckoos Are Supremely Powerful Telepathic X-Men

"Three

A group of 5 young clones of Emma Frost, one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful mutants, the Stepford Cuckoos are some of the strangest and most bizarrely “comic-booky” characters ever brought to the source material. Of course, the fact that they are all clones makes it somewhat difficult to adapt them to live-action properly, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Stepford Cuckoos have been a vital part of the X-Men for the better part of two decades.

Celeste, Esme, Mindee, Phoebe, and Sophie Cuckoo are all powerful individually, but it’s when they come together that they are at their most formidable. Their psychic abilities have been the backbone of countless modern X-Men stories, and with Samara Weaving taking on the role of Emma Frost in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men movie, the Cuckoos might not be far behind.

Captain Britain Is Far More Than A Captain America Knock-Off

Those that aren’t familiar with the lore behind Brian Braddock, aka Captain Britain, might assume that he’s just another riff on Captain America akin to Red Guardian or U.S. Agent. Those people, however, could not be more wrong. Captain Britain is one of the strangest and most powerful heroes in the Marvel Universe, and his stories are far more complex than many realize.

Drawing power from Otherworld, a multiversal nexus point, and assigned to protect the multiverse as part of the Captain Britain Corps, Brian Braddock is a wonderfully unique hero. Unfortunately, though, he has yet to appear in live-action, even when his sister, Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke, has.

Hope Summers Is The Mutant Messiah

"Hope

In the immediate aftermath of the iconic House of M event and Wanda Maximoff’s infamous uttering of the words, “no more mutants”, the X-Men and their mutant allies were thrown into disarray. With less than 200 mutants active on Earth, the X-Men and their kind were in danger of going extinct.

That all changed, however, when Hope was born. Of course, her birth kicked off one of the most dangerous and terrifying battles for control of the future of the mutant race in the legendary Messiah Complex storyline, and that tale resulted in her being adopted by Cable and brought into the far-flung future to grow up away from modern enemies. Hope Summers then went on to become one of the most powerful and important players in the X-Men’s history, and she has remained a fan-favorite ever since.

Spider-Woman Has Yet To Make Her Mark In Live-Action

"Spider-Man

Although Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, shares a similar character design and name to the legendary Spider-Man, she’s not all that often associated with Peter Parker and his superheroic antics. Instead, Jessica Drew is a character that has made a name for herself as a formidable member of S.H.I.E.L.D., an Avenger, and as a solo hero in her own right.

Not to be confused with other characters who have taken on the Spider-Woman mantle and have appeared in live-action, like Julia Carpenter and Mattie Franklin, Jessica Drew is one of the most iconic and exciting Marvel heroes who has not yet gotten her time to shine in live-action.

Forge Is The X-Men’s Technological Genius

"The

The X-Men is jam-packed with incredibly powerful mutant heroes, but one of the team’s most important and formidable supporting players is Forge, the technological mastermind who serves as the group’s chief engineer and weapons master. Forge has had a major role in Disney+’s X-Men ’97, but he has unfortunately still not appeared in live-action.

Forge has the ability to innately understand any device or technology, and that makes him an incredibly powerful supporting hero. The Native American hero also has a strong personal relationship with Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, and with the iconic weather goddess set to return in the MCU’s X-Men project, Forge could be hot on her heels.

Beta Ray Bill Is The Ultimate Thor Replacement

"Beta

It’s almost hard to believe that Beta Ray Bill, the legendary alien hero who once replaced Thor as the rightful wielder of Mjolnir, has never appeared in live-action, but that is the case. One of the greatest heroes to ever wield the iconic hammer, Bill has battled alongside Thor and other heroes against some of the fiercest villains in Marvel history.

Beta Ray Bill has repeatedly proven himself to be one of the greatest heroes in Marvel Comics history, and solo books like Daniel Warren Johnson’s Beta Ray Bill miniseries have cemented him as an all-time modern legend. It’s only a matter of time before Bill arrives in the MCU, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

Miles Morales Is Marvel’s Greatest Legacy Hero

"Miles

Although Spider-Man, aka Miles Morales, has headlined two of the best superhero movies of the 21st century, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, he has still yet to appear in live-action. Miles is one of the best Marvel heroes introduced since 2000, and he has become a pillar of the modern comic book landscape.

Peter Parker will forever be the most iconic Spider-Man, but Miles Morales is a worthy successor to the mantle. Originally from the Ultimate Universe, Miles became so popular that he came to Earth-616 in the wake of the Secret Wars event, and has remained there ever since.

Nova Desperately Needs His Own Live-Action Movie

"Richard

Richard Rider’s Nova flying through space in Marvel ComicsImage via Marvel Comics

The Nova Corps might have appeared in live-action in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film, but Richard Rider, the original Nova, has still, against all odds, never appeared in live-action. There have been numerous attempts at getting a live-action Nova project off the ground at Marvel over the last few years, but none have yet come to fruition.

Richard Rider is one of Marvel’s greatest cosmic heroes, and he could so easily usher in a bold new era of space-based storytelling in the MCU. It’s likely that Rider’s arrival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is coming sooner rather than later, but, as of right now, Nova remains one of the greatest Marvel characters who still hasn’t been brought to the big screen.
