Money mistake, or money want?<\/p>\n
As a part of exploring Money & Behaviour, Professor Meir Statman of Santa Clara University, one of the founders of behavioural finance, argued that much of what looks like a money mistake is really a want. If people keep a habit after seeing its cost, it usually serves something they value, such as the excitement of trading or the security of gold.<\/p>\n

Bijal Ajinkya explained why a will has to be drafted clearly. It “is one of the most difficult documents to prove in court, for the simple reason that when you have to prove intention, the person is no longer alive.” Sadia Khan spoke about what a succession dispute really costs. “A family that was close turns into adversaries.”<\/p>\n

The Borrowing and Debt panel, moderated by Mugdha Kalra, Senior Anchor, CNBC-TV18, featured Bharat Lamba, President, DSP Finance; Devyani Parameshwar, Founder and CEO, Mera Kal; Mohan Parsuramka, COO, 1 Finance; and Sachin Seth, Regional MD, India and South Asia, CRIF India.<\/p>\n
Mohan Parsuramka described a family with \u20b95 crore in assets and \u20b94 crore in debt. The investments look large until you see the liabilities. “Borrowing is a bridge, not a lifestyle,” said Bharat Lamba.<\/p>\n
