{"id":663365,"date":"2026-11-01T06:14:12","date_gmt":"2026-11-01T06:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/663365\/"},"modified":"2026-11-01T06:14:12","modified_gmt":"2026-11-01T06:14:12","slug":"chinas-first-ai-feature-fizzles-at-box-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/663365\/","title":{"rendered":"China&#8217;s First AI Feature Fizzles At Box-Office"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/chinas-first-ai-feature-fizzles-at-box-office.jpg\" data-caption=\"Bona Film Group\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/11\/chinas-first-ai-feature-fizzles-at-box-office.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"chinas-first-ai-feature-fizzles-at-box-office\"\/><\/a>Bona Film Group<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, the first feature-length AI-generated feature to get a wide release in China opened and quickly bombed at the box-office.<\/p>\n<p>The sci-fi thriller \u201cSanxingdui: Future Past,\u201d made for a budget of about $1.5 million, grossed an estimated $198,000 in its opening according to the French wire service Agence France-Presse (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/sanxingdui-future-past-ai-movie-box-office-flop-1236742696\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">THR<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>While other AI-generated feature films have had limited releases in various countries, this was the first true genuine AI blockbuster wide release with 10,000-plus opening-day screenings taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Bona Film Group CEO Jiang Defu tells Chinese film outlet Yuli that despite the underwhelming numbers, it was an important release: \u201cWe are the first to try it, the first to get a theatrical release permit and the first to be tested by the audience.
