Three-time breast cancer survivor Hui Wai-yee has become a pillar of Hong Kong\u2019s breast cancer support community.<\/p>\n
Through her volunteer work with the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF), she provides comfort, practical help, and encouragement to other patients, earning her a place as a finalist in this year\u2019s Spirit of Hong Kong Awards in the Community category.<\/p>\n
The Spirit of Hong Kong Awards, co-organised by the South China Morning Post and Sino Group, recognise the city\u2019s unsung heroes who serve their communities or inspire others through resilience and compassion.<\/p>\n
At the HKBCF\u2019s Support Centre, Hui is known for her kindness and ingenuity. She assists instructors in rehabilitation classes, mentors new patients and designs post-surgery recovery aids for those in need.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome women cry on the first day,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen I tell them I\u2019ve gone through the same thing and they can too, they smile again.\u201d<\/p>\n
