Sun O)))<\/a> have signed to Sub Pop<\/a> and shared their first songs<\/a> for the venerated Seattle-based label. \u201cEternity\u2019s Pillars,\u201d \u201cRaise the Chalice,\u201d and \u201cReverential\u201d are out now on streaming services and as a limited-edition 12\u201d vinyl single. \u201c\u2018Eternity\u2019s Pillars\u2019 is named for the mid-1980s television program created and hosted by jazz visionary and spiritual guru Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, focusing on her incessant belief in music\u2019s capacity to attain spiritual transcendence,\u201d Sun O))) shared in a press statement. \u201c\u2018Raise the Chalice\u2019 is named for a rallying cry often uttered by Northwest legend Ron Guardipee throughout the mid-1990s. \u2018Reverential\u2019 equally pays respect and sends loud praise to those who came before us with the heaviest burdens, expressions with music and art being the materials of an antiphon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now a duo of founding members Stephen O\u2019Malley and Greg Anderson, Sunn O))) shared their last new studio LPs, Life Metal<\/a> and Pyroclasts<\/a>, in 2019. The band also documented their BBC Radio 6 session from that same year in the 2021 live album Metta, Benevolence<\/a>.<\/p>\n
