{"id":77766,"date":"2025-10-16T05:47:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-16T05:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/77766\/"},"modified":"2025-10-16T05:47:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-16T05:47:13","slug":"russian-state-giants-top-corporate-debt-ranking-forbes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/77766\/","title":{"rendered":"Russian State Giants Top Corporate Debt Ranking \u2013 Forbes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russia\u2019s largest state-owned companies topped the list of the country\u2019s most indebted firms in 2024, according to a new Forbes Russia\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.ru\/rating\/547611-10-rossijskih-kompanij-s-naibol-simi-dolgami-2025-rejting-forbes\" title=\"ranking\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ranking<\/a> released Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 largest borrowers, mostly state-controlled conglomerates, held a combined net financial debt exceeding 20.5 trillion rubles ($260 billion, according to spot foreign exchange market data from Reuters).<\/p>\n<p>Gazprom ranked first with net debt of around 6 trillion rubles ($76.2 billion).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rosneft followed with about 3.6 trillion rubles ($45.8 billion) in debt, as the oil producer continued to take on loans to finance large-scale investment projects despite steady cash flows.<\/p>\n<p>Russian Railways (RZhD) came third with around 2.77 trillion rubles ($35.2 billion) in debt.<\/p>\n<p>In fourth place was state nuclear corporation Rosatom\u2019s holding company Atomenergoprom with 2.46 trillion rubles ($31.3 billion).<\/p>\n<p>The Baltic Chemical Complex, a major polyethylene project in Ust-Luga partly owned by Gazprom, also featured prominently, with net debt of 1.25 trillion rubles ($15.9 billion).<\/p>\n<p>The Central Bank\u2019s key interest rate, currently at 17%, has driven up debt servicing costs.<\/p>\n<p>Declining export revenues and limited access to foreign capital markets have also narrowed refinancing options.<\/p>\n<p>Many major firms saw their borrowing costs double or more over the past year, Forbes noted.<\/p>\n<p>Economists interviewed by the magazine warned that the growing debt burden has increased corporate dependence on state support, including funds from the National Wealth Fund.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian economy has shown signs of slowing in recent months as demand weakens and and interest rates remain high.<\/p>\n<p>According to Central Bank <a href=\"https:\/\/cbr.ru\/Collection\/Collection\/File\/55878\/4q_2024_1q_2025.pdf\" title=\"estimates\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">estimates<\/a>, one in six major companies \u2014 13 out of 78 \u2014 is now struggling to manage its debt.<\/p>\n<p>The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs has urged the Central Bank to lower the key rate to below 15%, which Sberbank has called a \u201ccomfortable\u201d level for businesses.<\/p>\n<p>But the regulator has been reluctant to ease policy, citing a war-driven fiscal imbalance in which government spending far exceeds revenues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Russia\u2019s largest state-owned companies topped the list of the country\u2019s most indebted firms in 2024, according to a&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":77767,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[114,184,54595,85,46,54596,47201],"class_list":{"0":"post-77766","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-economy","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-economy","10":"tag-gazprom","11":"tag-il","12":"tag-israel","13":"tag-rosneft","14":"tag-russian-railways"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77766","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=77766"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77766\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/77767"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=77766"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=77766"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=77766"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
