PETALING JAYA \u2013 The Education Ministry will strengthen mental health intervention programmes across all educational institutions under its purview, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.<\/p>\n
She said recent incidents involving safety issues in schools have exposed weaknesses that must be addressed immediately.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not view these as isolated cases, but rather as a need for improvement,\u201d she said in a Facebook post on Wednesday (Oct 15).<\/p>\n
Fadhlina said the ministry would also implement several measures to enhance safety in schools.<\/p>\n
\u201cSchool administrators must ensure their presence at their respective schools, while the ministry will enhance cooperation with the police to improve monitoring across all educational institutions,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that the findings of the school safety audit will be presented soon to enable more comprehensive improvements to strengthen safety measures across all educational institutions under the Education Ministry.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday (Oct 14), a 16-year-old female student from a school in Bandar Utama died after she was allegedly stabbed by a 14-year-old male student.<\/p>\n
