Hugh Jackman<\/a> is once again, the greatest showman.<\/p>\n

This time, the actor, 56, is starring opposite Kate Hudson<\/a>, 46, as real-life couple Mike and Claire Sardina, who formed the Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder, in 1989.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, Focus Features released the first trailer<\/a>, giving a first look into Jackman\u2019s transformation.<\/p>\n

In one shot, the Broadway alum sports long, shaggy hair and sideburns as he\u2019s dressed in a sparkly top, vest and jeans much like Diamond, now 84, once did.<\/p>\n

He also performs on stage in an all black outfit with his wife on the keyboard singing behind him.<\/p>\n

Hudson wore her hair in tight-curls as the on-screen couple sang together.<\/p>\n

\u201cBased on a true story, two down-on-their-luck musicians form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band, proving it\u2019s never too late to find love and follow your dreams,\u201d the film\u2019s synopsis reads.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not a songwriter,\u201d Jackman, as Mike, says in the footage. \u201cI\u2019m not a sex symbol. I just want to entertain people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t wanna be a hairdresser,\u201d Hudson\u2019s Claire chimes in. \u201cI wanna sing, I wanna dance, I wanna garden, I want a cat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire later tells her husband: \u201cYou don\u2019t want to be a Neil Diamond impersonator. You want to be a Neil Diamond interpreter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackman replies, \u201cI was looking for the right way to say it, and you just came right out and said it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie is written and directed by\u00a0Craig Brewer\u00a0and based on the\u00a02008 documentary of the same name\u00a0by Greg Kohs. <\/p>\n

Kohs served as an executive producer on the new project with Erika Hampson.<\/p>\n

Alongside Hudson and Jackman, \u201cSong Sung Blue\u201d\u00a0also stars\u00a0Michael Imperioli, Ella Anderson,\u00a0and Jim Belushi.<\/p>\n

In December, Hudson took to Instagram to share that they had wrapped filming.<\/p>\n

\u201cA little scroll of my final days filming and playing before holiday crunch time. What a work hubby\u00a0@thehughjackman<\/a>,\u201d she captioned the carousel<\/a>. <\/p>\n

She later teased the movie\u00a0via Instagram<\/a>, writing in April: \u201cLoved every second making this beautiful film, working with the most lovely work husband you could ask for, @thehughjackman, singing the iconic songs of Neil Diamond.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMore love notes for everyone involved to come\u2026,\u201d the singer concluded, \u201cbut right now I am just so excited to share with you that we have a release date \ud83d\udc83 Song Sung Blue \u2013 only in theaters this Christmas \ud83c\udf84\ud83c\udf81 \ud83c\udfb5.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diamond released his hit single \u201cSong Sung Blue\u201d in 1972, and soon after it hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. <\/p>\n

This project marks Jackman\u2019s return to the big screen. In recent years, the star appeared in 2024\u2019s \u201cDeadpool & Wolverine,\u201d 2017\u2019s\u00a0\u201cThe Greatest Showman\u201d and\u00a0\u201cLes Mis\u00e9rables\u201d in 2012.<\/p>\n

Jackman recently appeared on Broadway for the 2022 revival of\u00a0\u201cThe Music Man,\u201d which ran through 2023. He\u2019d go on to star in his own one-man show, \u201cFrom New York with Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackman also made headlines for his personal life in recent months.<\/p>\n

The actor and his ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, were married for 27 years\u00a0before the two announced they were divorcing<\/a>\u00a0in 2023. <\/p>\n

In May, the Australian actress, 69, filed to dissolve her marriage in New York, per Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Furness and Jackman, who tied the knot in 1996, share kids Oscar, 25, and Ava, 19. According to an insider, \u201ca settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with which includes a handsome spousal support payment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The source added to the outlet that \u201cthere was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, she got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The insider noted, \u201cThere is not going to be any drama with this, it gives closure that she needed. They are amicable and they are both fully committed to being the best parents that they can be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackman has since moved on with his \u201cMusic Man\u201d co-star Sutton Foster. The \u201cYounger\u201d alum, 50, filed for divorce from her husband<\/a>\u00a0of nearly 10 years, Ted Griffin, in Oct. 2024. The exes share daughter, Emily, 7.<\/p>\n

The following month,\u00a0Furness allegedly\u00a0\u201cliked\u201d a post\u00a0<\/a>from her private Instagram account of gossip blogger\u00a0Tasha Lustig\u00a0claiming that Jackman \u201cblindsided\u201d her by sharing his relationship with Foster.<\/p>\n

The producer\u2019s friend, British media personality\u00a0Amanda de Cadenet, also weighed in, writing in the comments section, \u201cYou are on point with this one. My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment fyi!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSong Sung Blue\u201d\u00a0is in theaters Dec. 25.<\/p>\n
