\n\tJerry Seinfeld<\/a> made some rather inflammatory comments about the Israel-Gaza war on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

\n\tAppearing at a Duke University event, the legendary comedian compared the Free Palestine to the Ku Klux Klan, while suggesting the Palestine supporters were somehow worse than the notoriously evil white supremacist group. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFree Palestine is, to me, just \u2014 you\u2019re free to say you don\u2019t like Jews,\u201d Seinfeld said, according to The Chronicle<\/a>, Duke University\u2019s student newspaper, which reported on Seinfeld\u2019s appearance Tuesday night. \u201cJust say you don\u2019t like Jews. By saying \u2018Free Palestine,\u2019 you\u2019re not admitting what you really think. So it\u2019s actually \u2014 compared to the Ku Klux Klan, I\u2019m actually thinking the Klan is actually a little better here because they can come right out and say, \u2018We don\u2019t like Blacks, we don\u2019t like Jews.\u2019 OK that\u2019s honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe event featured Seinfeld appearing along with Omer Shem Tov, an Israeli who was abducted by Hamas at the Oct. 7 Nova music festival and was held captive for 505 days. Seinfeld also detailed his trip to Tel Aviv to meet with families of hostages in what he called an effort to draw more attention to their plight. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Chronicle quoted a University spokesperson who noted, \u201cDuke does not preview the remarks of speakers who are invited to campus, and the invitation of speakers to campus does not imply any endorsement of their remarks.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tA representative for Seinfeld declined to comment. The Hollywood Reporter also reached out to two of the Duke groups behind the event but has not yet heard back.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeinfeld has repeatedly voiced his support of Israel during the conflict, though has typically spoken in a far more cautious fashion. During the publicity tour for his Netflix movie Unfrosted, he told GQ<\/a> last year, \u201cI don\u2019t preach about [the conflict]. I have my personal feelings about it that I discuss privately. It\u2019s not part of what I can do comedically, but my feelings are very strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso last year<\/a>, during a comedy show in Sydney, Australia, Seinfeld was heckled by a pro-Palestinian protester who accused him of being a \u201cgenocide supporter.\u201d Seinfeld sarcastically replied, \u201cWe have a genius, ladies and gentlemen. He\u2019s solved the Middle East. He\u2019s solved it! It\u2019s the Jewish comedians, that\u2019s who we have to get.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThen in February<\/a>, at an event commemorating Saturday Night Live\u2019s 50th anniversary, an influencer tried to get the comedian to say \u201cFree Palestine\u201d while taking a selfie. Seinfeld replied: \u201cI don\u2019t care about Palestine.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"First Unfrosted, now this.
