David Beckham<\/a> has admitted he was inspired to adopt a rural lifestyle after seeing how ‘modern day caveman’ Guy Ritchie<\/a> loved the outdoors.<\/p>\n

The former professional footballer, 50, set his sights on becoming a true country gent after purchasing a Cotswolds pile for \u00a36million in December 2016.<\/p>\n

Since then, east London-born David has shared his love of beekeeping, tending his vegetable patch and keeping chickens with his fans via his social media platforms.<\/p>\n

The father of four has now revealed that the man who influenced his country lifestyle was his friend and\u00a0\u00a0Hollywood director Guy, 57.<\/p>\n

David speaks about the inspiration in the upcoming issue of Country Life<\/a> magazine, which he was invited to guest edit to celebrate its 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n

In the issue, which is set for publication on Wednesday, David spoke about how Guy has helped him lean into the rural life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The father of four has now revealed that the man who influenced his country lifestyle was his friend and Hollywood director Guy, 57 (pictured left)<\/p>\n

He said: ‘He’s a modern-day caveman, who has made me fall far deeper in love with the countryside and helped me to understand it even more than I did before. Sometimes we sit for hours around a fire, just the two of us, and talk late into the night.<\/p>\n

‘Guy is the ultimate country gentleman, who absolutely loves his estate in Wiltshire. Spending time with him is one of the reasons I fell so deeply in love with the countryside.<\/p>\n

‘He’s a great and very close friend, who inspires me so much. I learn a lot from him \u2014 whether it’s about life, countryside management, people, politics, the monarchy or what it means to be British \u2014 all of the time.’<\/p>\n

David’s love of country activities include beekeeping, after he built his own beehive outside at his pad near Chipping Norton during the lockdown.<\/p>\n

He previously told Men’s Health: ‘When we go through the harvest of the honey and I sit there in my kitchen looking at it all, I get quite emotional.’<\/p>\n

David also referenced the other things that keep him busy in the Cotswolds, adding: ”My chickens in the countryside, being in my garden, hanging out with friends, having a pint or a glass of wine\u2026<\/p>\n

‘That’s what I love. We had the chickens, vegetable patch\u2014all down at the country house. It’s something I’m so proud of.’<\/p>\n

Another element of country living that David has copied off Guy was investing in an outdoor BBQ tent, which he bought from the star’s company,\u00a0WildKitchens.<\/p>\n

The tent is part of the luxury outdoor-kitchen concept from Guy’s company and the equipment includes a marquee-style WildTent paired with a high-end grill\/dining table unit known as the\u00a0WildTable.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Beckham’s set-up includes a ‘double tent’ capable of seating a dozen or more guests, with a 12-seat table and grill.<\/p>\n

Previously speaking about using the tent with Hello! magazine, David said: ”In the countryside in the UK, my kids are there every weekend, and we all grill every Saturday from 11 in the morning until 12 at night.’<\/p>\n
