Kristen Bell<\/a> has been hit with criticism online after posting an anniversary tribute to husband Dax Shepard<\/a> that some have interpreted as a flippant allusion to domestic violence. <\/p>\n

On Saturday, the \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d actor shared a photo on Instagram<\/a> showing her and Shepard sharing a sweet embrace. <\/p>\n

\u201cHappy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: \u2018I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I\u2019m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,\u2019\u201d Bell wrote in the caption of her post. <\/p>\n

As of Monday afternoon, the post had drawn a plethora of comments, with some pointing out that Bell\u2019s caption felt particularly ill-timed in October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cNot funny at all. What kind of man says that to his wife? Oh wait, I know exactly what kind,\u201d one person wrote on Instagram. \u201cGet out now, Kristen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added another: \u201cEveryone who thinks this is funny: talk to a DV survivor or the loved one of a DV who was murdered. Please think about the impact you are having.\u201d <\/p>\n

Others \u2015 including some of Bell\u2019s famous friends \u2015 suggested her words weren\u2019t intended to be taken literally. <\/p>\n

\u201cOh man. We are laughing so hard!!!!\u201d actor Mary Steenburgen wrote. <\/p>\n

Added actor Timothy Simons, who is one of Bell\u2019s \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d co-stars: \u201cThis is legitimately very sweet.\u201d <\/p>\n

HuffPost reached out to a representative for Bell seeking comment on her remarks but did not immediately hear back. <\/p>\n

Bell and Shepard have been married<\/a> since 2013 and share<\/a> daughters Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10. <\/p>\n

The A-list pair are no stranger to raising eyebrows on social media, particularly when it comes to candid revelations about their relationship. <\/p>\n

In July, Shepard celebrated his wife\u2019s Emmy Award nomination \u2015 for her portrayal of Joanne on \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d \u2015 by posting a photo of her doing yoga naked<\/a>, save for a pair of knee-high socks. <\/p>\n

\u201cPeople might not know everything that happens behind the scenes in order to create an Emmy nominated performance like Kristen\u2019s,\u201d he wrote<\/a> in the caption. \u201cThis may or may not have been a part of her training, but it felt right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Appearing on Shepard\u2019s \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcast last month, Bell said she wished she\u2019d \u201cbutterflied around a little bit more<\/a>\u201d in terms of her romantic experiences before tying the knot with her husband. <\/p>\n

Her remarks prompted Shepard to clarify: \u201cShe was very sexually active, and she wishes she was even more sexually active.\u201d<\/p>\n
