Ryan Coogler<\/a> took his mom to the movies this weekend. Speaking to Variety<\/a> at the Cinespia screening of Sinners<\/a> at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on October 17, Coogler gave a shout-out to his mom and credited her with inspiring his new X-Files<\/a> reboot. \u201cLike my relationship with Rocky with my dad, The X-Files is one of those things with my mom,\u201d he said. \u201cMy mom means the world to me \u2014 she\u2019s actually here tonight \u2014 so this is a big one for me. I want to do right by her and the fans. My mom has read some of the stuff I wrote for it. She\u2019s fired up.\u201d<\/p>\n

This new X-Files has been brewing for a while. News of the show\u2019s development broke in 2023<\/a>, and Sinners, Ironheart<\/a>, and Eyes of Wakanda have all come out since. In April of this year, Coogler told Last Podcast on the Left<\/a> that X-Files was \u201cimmediately next\u201d on his slate. At Cinespia, Coogler could neither confirm nor deny Danielle Deadwyler as a potential lead for the new series or guest spots from spooky alums David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The only thing confirmed, he said on Last Pod, is that the show will be \u201creally fucking scary.\u201d<\/p>\n
