\n\tDonald Trump<\/a> is currently knocking down the East Wing of the White House to make room for his gold-crusted ballroom. After photos and videos of the shocking demolition hit social media yesterday, late-night hosts took the opportunity to comment on Trump\u2019s \u201cunsettling\u201d actions. <\/p>\n

\n\tDuring his monologue on The Late Show<\/a>, Stephen Colbert<\/a> noted that at this point you might think it would be hard for us \u201cto be shocked by Donald Trump.\u201d \u201cBut give the man credit,\u201d the host said. \u201cEvery so often he takes the time to attach the electrodes to our nipples. And then it feels like the first time.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tColbert\u2019s audience booed when he showed an image of a backhoe that was \u201csent to rip out a chunk of the East Wing.\u201d \u201cThat is it,\u201d Colbert replied. \u201cWe are not giving him the security deposit back.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe added of the photo, \u201cThat is so deeply unsettling. That is like being a kid and seeing your teacher at the grocery store for sale in the meat department. We\u2019re just nine months into<\/a> Trump\u2019s term and he\u2019s going \u2018Hunk Smash!\u2019 on the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn The Tonight Show<\/a>, Jimmy Fallon<\/a> explained that \u201cthe White House just began demolition on the East Wing so they can start building Trump\u2019s new ballroom.\u201d He quipped, \u201cYeah, it\u2019s all part of Trump\u2019s $200 million metaphor: For Trump, knocking down walls is easy. It\u2019s building them that\u2019s hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Late Night<\/a>, Seth Meyers<\/a> kicked off his show by joking, \u201cYou guys, I don\u2019t think he\u2019s planning on leaving in three years. If I had three years left on a lease I wouldn\u2019t even put up a shelf.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tOn The Daily Show<\/a>, host Michael Kosta reminded viewers that the government shutdown is still going on and food stamps will soon run out. \u201cThere\u2019s no end in sight,\u201d Kosta said. \u201cBut not to worry: President Trump is working day and night to build a ballroom. It\u2019s exactly what you voted for, coal miners in Pennsylvania.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDespite Trump telling reporters that the construction wouldn\u2019t touch the existing White House building, Kosta noted that \u201cit looks like they touched it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI mean, holy shit,\u201d Kosta said. \u201cWho\u2019s his general contractor? Bin Laden & Sons? Apparently not touching the White House turned into demolishing the White House. And for what? Does he really need a ballroom attached to his home? I mean, it would be good to have one room where Barron didn\u2019t have to crouch, but still.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this week it emerged that construction crews had started tearing down part of the existing East Wing, built in 1902, to make space for Trump\u2019s planned $250 million ballroom. Trump initially unveiled his plans for the space in July, showcasing a 90,000-square-foot ballroom with capacity for 650 people. The project has since expanded to accommodate around 900 people.
