Kimberly Williams-Paisleyshared some details about her bond with late actress Diane Keaton.
People magazine reported that Williams-Paisley discussed filming the 1991 film, Father of the Bride, and its 1995 sequel, Father of the Bride II, during the October 24 episode of the Call It What It Ispodcast. In the movies, Williams-Paisley portrayed Annie Banks-MacKenzie, who has a close bond with her parents, George Banks (Steve Martin) and Nina Banks (Keaton).
While recording the podcast episode, Williams-Paisley shared that she found out about Keaton’s October 11 death via a “text from a friend.” She recalled feeling devastated by the news that Keaton, who turned 79 in January 2025, had died.
She also shared that she had idolized Keaton, who she described as “such an inspiration,” prior to co-starring in Father of the Bride.
“She was just so generous, and so funny, and wise. Just like wonderful,” said Williams-Paisley during the podcast interview, per People magazine.
She shared that she and Keaton “really bonded and just laughed” during the production of Father of the Bride II.
“The humor clicked, and it was so fun to be on set when she was on set,” said the 9-1-1: Nashville actress.
In addition, Williams-Paisley, who is married to Brad Paisley, said Keaton was a source of support while she dealt with anxiety.
“I remember I had a lot of anxiety during those two movies. I mean, I was 19 on the first one. It was the first major role I had,” said Williams-Paisley in the podcast interview. “And Diane was like a mother figure to me who was very safe. I talked to her about my anxiety. I had a lot of dreams. I’m a big dreamer, literally, but I would have like weird nightmares. I think it was like me working out my anxiety in the middle of the night, and she would analyze dreams with me. She was a kind listening ear.”
She also said that while Keaton “didn’t have easy answers” about combating anxiety, she believes the Family Stone actress had “lived experience.”
“Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone who’s been through it too, you know?” said Williams-Paisley.
