When Ben Affleck wore the Batman suit for the first time

Zack Snyder recently offered fans a rare look at the moment Ben Affleck first stepped into the role of Batman.

The filmmaker shared a black-and-white photo on Instagram, revealing Affleck wearing the Batsuit for the very first time during a costume test for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the caption, Snyder wrote, “A black-and-white 4×5 Polaroid I took of Ben during the costume test — first time in the suit. Everything I hoped it would be. #Batman.”

The photo offers a glimpse into an important moment in the development of the DCEU, showing the beginning of Affleck’s journey as Batman. The actor went on to portray Batman in several DCEU films before making his final appearance in The Flash.

Snyder’s post follows another recently released photo of Henry Cavill as Superman, shared just a few days earlier.

Reflecting on his time as Batman, Affleck previously shared that he enjoyed portraying the character. He said, “I had a really good time. I loved doing the Batman movie. I loved Batman v Superman. And I liked my brief stints on The Flash that I did, and when I got to work with Viola Davis on Suicide Squad for a day or two.” (via GQ)

The actor noted that he appreciated exploring the “older, broken, damaged” side of the character. He added, “And it was something we really went for in the first movie.”
