The cast and crew were heartbroken following Angus Cloud’s passing due to a drug overdose in July 2023; he was just 25 years old. In a recent interview with Variety, Sydney reflected on the challenges of returning to the set in his absence and discussed how the cast coped with his loss.
She remarked, “It was certainly a very emotional moment to return to a set and not have him there with you. He was an incredibly special individual, and his life was cut short far too soon.”
The actress continued, “I’m grateful I was at home surrounded by my family. My first call was to Maude, followed by Jacob [Elordi], and we were all just in tears on the phone together. It’s not the kind of situation you wish would bring people together, but I’m thankful to have my castmates to share and process everything with.”
At the AFI Fest premiere of her wrestling biopic Christy, Sydney also mentioned that her role in Euphoria is wrapping up this week. She noted, “I finish Euphoria in two days. It’s mostly the same team, so it feels like I’m returning to family. I’ve grown up alongside them. I was 20 when I filmed the pilot, so seeing many of the same faces is very reassuring.”
Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, and Colman Domingo are among the other cast members set to return to the series. It is speculated to be the final season of the acclaimed drama.
