The Man of Tomorrow movie has received an exciting update.
James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU officially kicked off in 2024 with the animated Creature Commandos series. That was followed by Gunn’s Superman, which was released in July 2025, and Peacemaker Season 2, which concluded on HBO Max earlier this month. DCU titles coming in 2026 include Lanterns, Supergirl, and Clayface.
It has been announced that a follow-up to Superman, titled Man of Tomorrow, is now in the works and will arrive in 2027. The movie will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult reprise their respective roles as Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
What is the latest update on Man of Tomorrow?
On Threads, Gunn shared a picture of a large stack of paper cards with the caption, “Storyboards sequence #3” for Man of Tomorrow. This means that pre-production is well underway and seemingly going smoothly, which makes sense as the film is expected to begin filming next spring.
When asked in a comment if every card in the picture is a different shot, Gunn explained, “No. Some shots take up more than one card because of movement in the shot.”
Elsewhere on the internet, Home of DCU on Twitter shared a picture indicating that Warner Bros. has temporarily removed Corenswet’s Superman costume from its public display, as it’s “currently being used by production” for Man of Tomorrow.
Official plot details for Man of Tomorrow remain under wraps at this time, though it’s been highly speculated (but not confirmed) that the main antagonist in the film will be Brainiac. Many DC fans are also assuming that the movie will play into the ending of Peacemaker Season 2, in some capacity, though how hard it leans into those plot points remains to be seen.
Man of Tomorrow arrives in United States theaters on July 9, 2027, from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures.
