Marjorie Barretto has broken her silence following her mother Inday Barretto’s vlog interview with Ogie Diaz, where Inday made remarks about her personality and their strained mother-daughter relationship.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Marjorie opened up about her side, revealing that her mother’s statements came as a shock, especially as their family continues to grieve the death of her brother, Mito.

“A few days ago, on my brother’s first-month death anniversary, an interview of my mom was released,” Marjorie wrote, saying that it was something that was weighing heavily on her heart.

“I woke up to frantic calls and messages from loved ones saying that my mom had said very hurtful and untrue things about me,” she added.

Marjorie said she was surprised to learn that her mother claimed they were not on good terms.

“Was I not taking my mom home from the wake? Was I only dreaming that we were talking, hugging, and comforting each other?” she said.

She also questioned the timing of her mother’s remarks, especially since they are still mourning her brother’s death.

“Or am I once again damage control? The Mission: Destroy Marjorie – to make the youngest child look good and clean,” she claimed.

Marjorie defended herself, saying she has always shown love to her family, including her mother.

“Over the years, through all my Instagram posts, you’ve seen me surrounded by my family,” she said. “I always make sure we are all together at my gatherings.”

“In all those photos and videos, have you not seen my mom at our big family events? Was that all just a dream? An illusion of mine?” she added.

Addressing her mother’s claim that she was embarrassed by her, Marjorie responded: “Why would you say that, Mom?”

“You and my siblings know very well that you’ve often asked me not to post photos of us together because Gretchen and Claudine might get upset,” she added.

Marjorie also claimed her mother “begged” her not to fix things with Gretchen and Claudine so she would not “be left out.”

“I am 51 years old, and for more than 20 of those years, I have been punished for being the child who never bothered my parents with problems, the one who kept it together even while drowning to survive,” she said.

“With my mom, if you are not a problematic child, you become the least favorite.”

Marjorie claimed that Inday’s Part 2 interview with Ogie “was just as false, unfair, and destructive” as her Part 1 interview about the relationship between Claudine and Raymart Santiago.

In Inday’s interview, she had described Marjorie as “strong-willed” and admitted they don’t always get along.

“Marjorie is very strong-willed. Sometimes lampas sa normal,” Inday said.

“We don’t get along fine. I love her, she knows that. She’d better know it because otherwise what a loss.”

Inday also said she feels rejected by her daughter.

“I just feel like she loves me, but parang hindi ako enough sa kaniya,” she said.

“Parang may hinahanap siya sa akin na hindi ko alam kung ano kasi kung alam ko, ibigay ko,” she added.

According to Marjorie, her mom called her strong-willed “in a bad way.”

“Mom, I should not be punished and insulted for being strong-willed. I fought so hard to get to this point. I had no choice. When the going gets tough for the favored child, I am made to suffer for it,” she said.

Marjorie ended her statement by saying she has learned to accept “whatever kind of love” her mom can give her.

“Instead of looking for affection and protection from you, I will pour all of my energy into being the best mom to my children,” she said.

“I am not a perfect mom, but they can trust me,” she added.

In the comments section of Marjorie’s post, her children, Dani, Julia, and Leon Barretto, shared their words of support.

“We will always love you and protect you! No matter what,” Dani commented.
