Following the success of Ignite’s pilot intake for 18–25 year olds in 2024, Big Fan is thrilled to announce applications are now open for the next round of its industry-focused training programme in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland starting this October.

Ignite is an eight-week programme designed to nurture and empower people with a passion for music and events. Participants choose from three streams, Event Management, Event Production, and Music Production and gain access to one-on-one mentoring from industry professionals, upskilling workshops, hands-on experience, and opportunities to put their learning into practice.

“We were blown away by the response to the first ever 18–25 intake in 2024. It showed us just how much appetite there is among young adults to get involved in the music industry, no matter where they’re starting from. Ignite is about giving people the tools, confidence, and connections they need to thrive and we’re so excited to open applications again this year.”
Programme Manager at Big Fan, Cuillin Hearty

A programme fee of $250 (incl GST) applies for the 18–25 intake, with scholarship placements available for those experiencing financial hardship, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.

Ignite has supported young creatives since it began in 2016, helping alumni step into study, careers, and creative projects across Aotearoa. With no prior skills or experience required, the programme is designed to open doors and highlight the many career pathways the music industry offers.
