In the latest Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar episode, host Salman Khan addressed Shehbaaz Badesha’s controversial comment regarding late actor Sidharth Shukla’s fan support. During a firm exchange, Salman reminded Shehbaaz about the sensitivity of invoking Sidharth’s name.
Salman directly told Shehbaaz, “Siddharth ne jo bhi kiya apne dum par kiya. Aapka game uske ek percent ke barabar nahi hai. I want to tell you — Siddharth did everything in this show on his own terms. He never took anyone’s name, and your game is not even one percent of his. So why would his fans support you?”
He continued, questioning Shehbaaz’s sense of entitlement. “Do you really think if Siddharth himself were here, he would have supported you? You also said that you know me personally — that’s not true. I’ve only met you once or twice,” Salman added. He then offered advice on maintaining humour while respecting limits: “Your strength is your humour. You’re funny and have good timing, but don’t go below the belt. I told you — irritate mat karo, below the belt mat jao. Not ki comedy chhod do.”
Shehbaaz, visibly embarrassed, was reminded to retain his natural wit while keeping comments within acceptable boundaries. The interaction highlighted the importance of respecting the memory of late stars, especially in a highly scrutinised platform like Bigg Boss.
The controversy began in a previous episode, when Shehbaaz, brother of former Bigg Boss 13 contestant Shehnaaz Gill, mentioned Sidharth Shukla’s name during a casual conversation with composer Amaal Mallik. He said, “Mujhe Bigg Boss ke nomination me ane do, dekhte hain fir kya hota hai.” Amaal responded, “Ayenge sab…” but Shehbaaz followed with the remark, “Sidharth ke fan baithe hain bahar mere saath. Jo winner hai na iss show ka, mere saath fan following baithi hai uski.”
The comment sparked backlash online, with fans accusing Shehbaaz of leveraging the late actor’s popularity for attention and sympathy votes. Many criticised the remark as inappropriate, emphasizing that invoking Sidharth’s name for personal advantage crossed the line, particularly during a celebratory Diwali episode.
