The Fame. The Fame Monster. Born This Way. Love for Sale. Despite four nominations in the category across an already decorated career, 14-time Grammy winner Lady Gaga has never taken home the award for Album of the Year.
But if Gold Derby’s predictions for the top category ahead of the nominations announcement tomorrow morning, that could very well be about to change.

After leading predictions essentially since they launched, Lady Gaga and her sixth studio album Mayhem are closing out the period of time ahead of nominations atop Album of the Year, ahead of tough competition like one of last year’s big winners Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Clinching a nomination tomorrow would set Gaga on a path that could result in her finally achieving an accomplishment that has eluded her for 15 years. Her first nod in Album of the Year came all the way back in 2010, when The Fame secured a spot in the category and both Gaga and Beyonce lost to Taylor Swift’s Fearless.
Gaga wouldn’t have to wait long for another shot at the award, as her next nod came just the following year, with the reissue of an album she had already been nominated for: The Fame Monster.
She then made it three in a row the year after with Born This Way, which also managed to make it into Album of the Year. That streak has only been bested by Gaga’s primary competition this year, Kendrick Lamar, Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, and The Beatles (who were nominated for Album of the Year in five consecutive years).
It would be ten years before Gaga re-entered the category with 2022’s Love for Sale, which she recorded with Tony Bennett.
An Album of the Year homecoming for Gaga — which looks likely at this point — would be a major statement, reaffirming the singer’s return to form and her importance to pop music for the last two decades.
