Leading apprentice Jaylah Kennedy will miss at least the next three months after having surgery on a recurring knee injury.

The 24-year-old had an operation on her right knee on Monday afternoon at the Epworth Hospital.

Only hours after the surgery Kennedy said she was already counting down to her comeback to the sport.

“I’m gutted to be missing the best time of year in the spring but looking forward to returning in the summer,” she said.

Kennedy has ridden 129 career winners, including a victory at Listed level.
