Sisters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to be “absolutely devastated” by the continued fallout surrounding their parents, the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.Amid the brouhaha, Beatrice flew to Saudi Arabia and kept a standing commitment to host a tea party at the Future Investment Initiative.“No one would have blamed her if she had pulled out of this high-profile event,” a source told The Daily Mail.

Along with sharing an emotional hug with her younger sister Princess Eugenie late last week in London, Princess Beatrice jetted off to Saudi Arabia recently, where she hosted a tea party for wealthy dignitaries amid the scandal surrounding her parents, the former Prince Andrew (now Andrew Mountbatten Windsor) and Sarah Ferguson.

In the past month, both Andrew and Ferguson’s Duke and Duchess of York titles, respectively, have been stripped, as has Andrew’s princely titles and all other royal titles and privileges. The former couple, who divorced in 1996, cohabitated together at the 30-room mansion Royal Lodge, and both are moving out and into their own respective new homes, with Andrew headed for a home on the Sandringham estate. Amid all the brouhaha, Beatrice and Eugenie will retain their princess titles and their Her Royal Highness stylings.

Neither Beatrice nor Eugenie is a working royal; Beatrice, for her part, is a vice president at the U.S. software company Afiniti. Beatrice was in Saudi Arabia at the Future Investment Initiative, according to The Daily Mail, touching down in Riyadh and hosting the aforementioned tea party at the five-star Ritz-Carlton in the city. In photos obtained by the outlet, Beatrice wore a long black dress, matching pumps, and a black bow in her hair as she led the event for women business leaders.

In Saudi Arabia, Beatrice “was treated very much as a VIP” by those in attendance, with many attendees reportedly “curious whether Beatrice would even show up for the Riyadh event, given the tumultuous events occurring back home.” Despite both Beatrice and Eugenie being “absolutely devastated” by the latest scandal surrounding their parents and their association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Beatrice kept her commitment.

“It can’t have been easy fronting the tea party,” a conference attendee told The Daily Mail. “No one would have blamed her if she had pulled out of this high-profile event, but she was determined to grit her teeth and carry on with the show, and I think people respected that.”

Ferguson previously said of her daughters that they “are out there doing the work. Eugenie does a lot with The Anti-Slavery Collective, Beatrice does an enormous amount in technology and with dyslexia and really believes in humanity in the workplace, with compassion.”

Beatrice was also granted a new royal role even after Andrew’s scandal broke in the past few weeks—she and her uncle Prince Edward will serve as Deputy Patron and Lead Patron, respectively, of Outward Bound, a charity that encourages children to grow through exposure to nature and one that was fiercely supported by Beatrice’s grandfather (and Edward’s father) Prince Philip during his long life.

“With the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice working alongside us, we’re embarking on a new chapter,” Martin Davidson, Chief Executive of Outward Bound, said in a statement (per People). “One where every young person has the chance to test their limits, build confidence, and discover that anything is possible. Their support reflects a shared belief that adventure changes lives.”
