Radio 1Xtra will launch a new Friday night schedule in April, including two new shows.
Among the changes, Kash & Pharaoh G will host a new show kicking off Friday nights on 1Xtra (7pm-9pm), joining the network full time. The new show will broadcast from Birmingham. Kash and Pharaoh G began working together at Reprezent Radio, since then they have covered several shows on 1Xtra, including being on the ground for the station at festivals like Notting Hill Carnival.
Radio 1Xtra’s Rap Show with Kenny Allstar will move to 9pm-11pm, renamed Kenny Allstar. The show will continue to feature the latest and best rap and hip-hop music, featuring new and emerging artists from the UK and around the world.
1Xtra will introduce a new late night music show to the weekly schedule at 11pm-1am, with more details to follow in the new year.
After seven years with the network playing some of the biggest tracks and supporting some amazing artists, Tiffany Calver has chosen to leave the station, with her final 1Xtra show broadcasting on Friday 2 January. CassKidd will cover the show (9pm-11pm) from Friday 9 January until April when the new schedule will commence.
In further changes to the station, Radio 1Xtra’s Rave Show with Jeremiah Asiamah will move from Friday to Thursday, 11pm-1am and 1Xtra’s Throwback Party with Joelah and Keke will move from Thursday to Wednesday, 11pm-12am.
Kash says: “It’s time! I’m buzzing to bring that Friday night party energy to 1Xtra. Expect nothing but good vibes, great music and a brand new energy for the weekend.”
Pharaoh G say: “It has always been my dream to have a show on BBC Radio 1Xtra. Friday nights are about good energy and amazing music, and that’s what we will bring. A new era is on the way. We have worked so hard for this, and I can’t wait to get started. You won’t want to miss us on a Friday night.”
Tiffany Calver says: “It has been the greatest honour of my life to be a part of one of the best radio stations in the world for so many years. There has not been a week where I have taken that responsibility lightly since the start, and I will miss it dearly.”
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has let me champion, support, and play their records as well as the BBC for supporting my never-ending quest to keep finding and sharing the music I love every week. That part will never change, as big as this one might feel. It’s now time to continue on my journey but I have made the decision to do that outside of the 8th floor. I am really excited for my next chapter.”
Dari Samuels, Head of 1Xtra says: “Fridays on 1Xtra are all about bringing people together through music and this new schedule is our way of making that connection even stronger whilst setting the tone for the weekend and continuing to reflect the culture we’re proud to represent.
“I’m delighted that Kash and Pharaoh G will join the station full time and know they’ll bring fresh energy and vibrancy to Friday nights. I’m also looking forward to seeing what opportunities the new evening show will bring to the station.
“Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Tiffany for the energy and passion she has brought to the station over the past seven years, I wish her all the best in her next adventure.”
BBC Radio 1Xtra is available to listen to on DAB and BBC Sounds with the new schedule kicking in from April 2026.
