Black Caps hero Jacob Duffy described it as a perfect day.
That might be stretching it on some fronts.
The Black Caps recorded a comfortable eight-wicket win against the West Indies to clinch a 3-1 series win at the University Oval in Dunedin yesterday.
Just under 2500 fans showed up, and they came equipped with blankets and beanies.
West Indies captain Shai Hope kept his hands firmly planted in his pockets.
The fog rolled in partway through the game.
The wind was a little chilly earlier.
But none of that mattered because Duffy was on target. He ripped out three wickets in the third over of the game to set up the win.
He grabbed another later in the innings to finish with four for 35.
Former West Indies fast bowler-turned-commentator Ian Bishop interviewed Duffy during the innings break.
Bishop encouraged the big Southlander to get inside and keep warm, and Duffy just smiled and said: “Nah, it’s another Dunner stunner.”
Well … in some ways it was: The cold November rain stayed away and the Black Caps defended their perfect record at the venue.
They have never been beaten at the ground since the venue made its international debut in 2008.
