$55 million Lotto draw: These are the multimillion-dollar properties you could buy if you win

Sure, your Lotto win would only cover about half the asking price, but this 487ha coastal property is catching the attention of several foreign billionaires, according to listing agent John Greenwood. It has panoramic sea views, kilometres of native bush, a helipad, a landing strip and a private jetty.

The mega-estate boasts two houses. The main clifftop residence, designed by renowned Italian architect Misa Poggi, sits on Karaka Point’s headland. About 2.5km away is the beach house, wrapped around two pools.

The listing on real estate company Bayleys’ website stated the property offered a rare sanctuary where conservation met contemporary living.

“A private 6km road winds through lakes, native bush and wildlife to a stunning 540sq m headland residence designed by Italian architect Misa Poggi,” it said. “With panoramic sea views, seamless indoor and outdoor living, and a pool overlooking the forest canopy, this retreat captures the essence of the Bay of Islands.”

Ayrburn residences, Queenstown

Cost: Three new builds for up to $40 million each

Designed by Cromwell-based architect Jessie Sutherland, the three new houses on the Ayrburn estate have extensive luxury amenities. Behind them are property developers Winton, whose chief executive called Ayrburn “the best part of the most expensive street in New Zealand”.

The Crown Peak 844sq m property has nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The Mount Soho property is 905sq m with eight bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an underground bar and theatre. Finally, the Coronet property boasts 916sq m, eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms.

Realty company Sotheby’s is keeping private the details about the owners selling this Herne Bay waterfront mansion after nearly 50 years. But according to OneRoof, they are “well-known Kiwis”.

The Sotheby’s listing states the 719sq m waterfront estate offers one of the finest water connections in New Zealand.

“This Mediterranean-inspired masterpiece has been cherished by a single family for over 45 years and boasts a prime 2253sq m position within a private bay, granting breathtaking views across Auckland’s glittering Waitemata Harbour,” it says.

Southern Farm Collection, Otago

Cost: Valued around $140 million

Several stations on a 14,600ha Otago property are up for grabs. And at a total value of around $140m, the buyer will be at the very top end of the market – excluding 99% of the local buying population, according to New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty Queenstown agent Russell Reddell. So even if you only have $55m in your back pocket, don’t feel too bad that this might be a little out of your price range.

Speaking to OneRoof, Reddell said an operation this size rarely came up for sale.

“It takes 20 or 30 years to build something like this. You’ve got to buy multiple farms, bring them together, redefine them, and so all that hard work has been done.”

Reddell said the buyer most likely would be a wealth fund: “It’s a sophisticated buyer. It’s not going to be your ma and pa investor as such”. Or maybe your average Lotto winner.

Legacy properties by the beach, Mount Maunganui

Cost: Three properties with a combined RV of $9.03 million

Three neighbouring properties owned by the same family for nearly 60 years are up for sale in Mount Maunganui. The properties include a bach and rental units and occupy more than 200sq m on Oceanbeach Rd.

Speaking to OneRoof, the late owner’s granddaughter said five generations of her family enjoyed holidays there.

“Unless they live at the Mount, I don’t think people understand what it’s like to have that beach on your doorstep. We’ve been really blessed to have that experience,” she said.

“The grand Great Room – with its vaulted timber ceilings and limestone fireplace – opens to expansive north-facing terraces where outdoor lounges and a covered dining area with open fire frame sweeping views,” its listing on OneRoof reads.

“Below, a 20m heated pool, cedar hot tub, ice bath, infrared sauna and gymnasium create a private wellness haven surrounded by native bush.”

While the property has an RV of $4m, the owners are aiming for the buyer to spend much higher than that, according to OneRoof.
