Jon Bon Jovi sent love across the years as he remembered a special someone who helped shape the iconic band.
In an Instagram post, the legendary frontman honored his late bandmate, Alec Such, on his birthday.
The post featured throwback photos of the lead singer and Such during their younger years, tracing their journey from their early days as a rising band to being inducted into the 33rd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. They were joined by fellow members David Bryan, Tico Torres and Richie Sambora.
“Sending much luv to our friend Alec. Happy birthday,” he captioned his post, sparking a wave of heartfelt messages from fans.

“Happy heavenly birthday Alec,” one wrote.
“Always in our hearts,” a follower noted.
“Happy birthday to our beloved Alec!” a social media user echoed.
“Alec, miss you!!!” a fan added.
Such was among the original members of the band, joining in 1983 and achieving massive success in the 1980s.
At the time, he established himself as a notable bassist, appearing on their first five studio albums.
It was in 1994 when he left the group and was later replaced by Hugh McDonald.
Years later, the late band member and Sambora, who also left Bon Jovi during their 2013 world tour, reunited with the group in 2018 during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
At the time, he delivered an emotional speech expressing how honored they were to receive such a prestigious title.
Moreover, he also shared his deep gratitude to his fellow band members, whom he described as ‘the best’ guys.
In June 2022, the former bassist died from a heart attack at the age of 70.
Bon Jovi delivered the heartbreaking news after Such’s passing was announced.
“We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such,” the post on X reads. “He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band.”
Moreover, the band expressed how much they would miss him dearly, highlighting his importance to them both as a former member and a friend.
“To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him – He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres, drummer] and brought Richie [Sambora, guitarist and co-songwriter] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today, those special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We’ll miss him dearly,” the statement says.
In addition to the official message, Bon Jovi also shared a touching tribute featuring a video of their 1988 live performance of “Blood on Blood,” interwoven with photos and footage of Such over the years.
