Superstar mare Joliestar will get her chance at redemption in The Everest after the three-time Group 1 winner was snapped up for the $20m race.

Joliestar will again represent the Chris Waller and partners racing slot after being unlucky in the rich dash last year when she finished seventh as a $6 chance, beaten a length-and-a-half by winner Bella Nipotina.

At the time of writing, Joliestar was rated a $13 chance on TAB fixed odds to claim Everest revenge.

The five-year-old mare becomes the fifth horse signed up for the prestigious sprint in October which will be headlined by Hong Kong superstar Ka Ying Rising.

Since racing in last year’s Everest, Joliestar has won two Group 1s as she scored the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington then produced a barely believable victory coming from nowhere in the Kingsford Smith Cup during the Queensland winter carnival.

“She’s just gone from strength to strength,” Waller said.

“What she did in the Newmarket was exceptional, and to back it up in Brisbane shows the quality she possesses.

“She’s matured beautifully and we couldn’t be more excited to have her back for The Everest.”

Joliestar races in the Cambridge Stud black and gold chequers colours of Sir Brendan Lindsay, who has had another crack at The Everest with Joliestar on his mind for some time.

“Joliestar means a great deal to us,” Lindsay said.

“She’s not only flying the flag for Cambridge Stud in Australia, but she’s also building a legacy that will one day return home with her to New Zealand.

“She had already achieved so much early in her career, but now she’s elevating herself into that top echelon — arguably one of Australia’s best sprinters.

“To see her represent our farm on a stage like The Everest is incredibly special.”

Waller’s partners in the Everest slot are Winx’s part-owner Peter Tighe and his wife Patty, prominent Queensland owners Nev and Jenny Morgan and Noel and Maria Greenhalgh along with Ingham Racing.

“It’s a privilege to have Joliestar return to represent our slot,” Tighe said.

“Her tenacity, her class, and her will to win make her a perfect fit for The Everest.

“She’s a mare that keeps rising to every challenge.”

Noel Greenhalgh added: “She’s earned her place.”

“We’re proud to have her representing our slot once again on one of racing’s biggest days. Bring on Everest day.”
