Jaideep Ahlawat, known for disappearing seamlessly into every character he plays, is now stepping into one of India’s biggest streaming franchises — The Family Man. With Prime Video rolling out Season 3, anticipation is sky-high, especially with Jaideep joining the cast as Rukma, a character positioned to be one of Srikant Tiwari’s most formidable adversaries yet.

The actor revealed that his journey into the Family Man universe began with a straightforward but game-changing phone call. Recalling how swiftly things aligned once creators Raj and DK reached out, Jaideep shared, “DK sir called me saying they’re trying to make this season (third) even bigger than the first two seasons. They narrated a basic structure of the entire story, and it was a completely different world. The story was extremely interesting, and it was an instant ‘yes’ for me. Working on The Family Man franchise alongside Manoj sir, it was a no brainer.”
Once he began exploring Rukma, the character evolved into something far beyond what he had initially envisioned. Describing the psychological layers of his role, Jaideep noted, “When I was reading the script, I couldn’t picture Rukma the way it is now. There was a picture in the minds of Raj and DK on how Rukma should look. The character doesn’t really care about anything. His detachment often gives out a vibe of him being inhuman, but he actually isn’t so. Srikant can be labelled as the socially accepted Family Man, whereas Rukma is quite the opposite of that. He is an unacceptable Family Man.”
Season 3 takes the narrative into India’s Northeast, setting the stage for a high-intensity storyline steeped in political tension, unfamiliar landscapes, and rising emotional stakes. The makers are dialling up the thrill while also expanding the universe with returning favourites like Sharib Hashmi (JK) and Priyamani (Suchitra), whose dynamics with Srikant continue to anchor the show.
With a cold, unpredictable force like Rukma entering the frame, The Family Man Season 3 promises a gripping face-off that could challenge Srikant Tiwari in ways he hasn’t experienced before — both as an intelligence officer and as a family man.
