The rumours were right. WhatsApp has finally launched its app on the Apple Watch, and alongside it, a slew of new updates and features which will allow users to read, reply to, and react to messages directly from their wrists – making it more convenient than ever to keep up with conversations from just their watch.

New features

Amongst the most notable updates are:

Call Notification: Users can now see who is calling directly on their watchesFull Message View: Users can read full texts on their Apple WatchVoice Messaging: Users can now record, receive and send voice messages from their watches.Reactions: Users will be able to react to messages with Emojis on their watches.Enhanced Media Display: Users can view clearer images and stickers.Chat History Access: Users may now scroll through more of their message history through their watches.

WhatsApp also promises that privacy will continue to be ensured. To that end, all personal messages and calls will remain protected by end-to-end encryption.

How to install

To get started on this update, users can install the latest version of WhatsApp on their iPhones via the Apple App Store before pairing their Apple Watch (Series 4 or later, running watchOS 10 or newer). The app should then automatically appear on the watch once updated. An Alternative method is to directly install WhatsApp using the Watch App.
