AEW star Rebel has made a heartbreaking announcement about her health issues and has asked for everyone’s prayers and support.
Rebel, who’s known for being the on-screen personal assistant to former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker, posted a video on X/Twitter to reveal that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
She mentioned in the video that she was hospitalized in May 2024 for what she thought was cryptococcal pneumonia, which is a fungal infection that affects the lungs. Rebel stated that after not getting better after a year of taking anti-fungals, she decided to visit the Mayo Clinic, where doctors diagnosed her with “primary pulmonary lymphoma”.
“After a year of not getting better, I decided to go to the Mayo Clinic and see if I can get treated by them. They found that it was not cryptococcal pneumonia this whole time and that it is primary pulmonary lymphoma, which is cancer in the lungs.”
Rebel stated that she starts rehab from today, but also revealed she had picked up another neurological disorder, which took away her ability to walk, speak clearly, and caused her to lose some function in her right hand.
“Tomorrow I start rehab because, along this tumultuous journey, I have picked up a little disorder called functional neurological disorder, and it has taken my ability to walk. I now walk with a walker. And my ability to speak clearly, I don’t know if you can tell, but sounds like I bit my tongue.
“I’ve also lost the ability, function, I guess I should say, in my right hand. I kind of have like a claw hand, so it’s hard for me to use my right dominant hand,” Rebel said in the video.
Rebel also revealed that she has to finish the treatment for an infection before she can start getting treated for the cancer, which she hopes will begin in January 2026.
“To address the cancer that I have, lymphoma, I have a very serious infection right now. So, I’m on IV antibiotics, and I have to clear this infection first before I can address the cancer. Once that’s finished, hopefully in December, I will go in for a third bronchoscopy to determine what kind of treatment are we having. Chemo, radiation, immunology, and then we’ll start there, and then we’ll kick its a**. So I’m hoping that will start around the first of 2026.”
Wrestling stars like Bayley, Jordynne Grace, Lexis King, Will Ospreay, Michin, and Bully Ray have all commented on the post to offer Rebel some words of encouragement and support.
