Paddington Bear was given a right royal welcome backstage at last night’s Royal Variety performance.
The beloved bear, who is currently on the West End stage, was pictured with Prince William and his wife the Princess of Wales after the show.
“A rather wonderful encounter at the Royal Variety Performance,” tweeted StudioCanal, which is behind the stage show.
BBC News reported that Prince William said Paddington’s performance was “fantastic,” before adding: “Your sandwich looks very nice.”
Paddington has a close connection with the Royal Family. He famously appeared in a sketch with the late Queen Elizabeth II for her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The marmalade-loving bear has been lighting up preview performances in London’s West End in Paddigton: The Musical. The bear recently went viral after his encounter with a BBC News journalist caused the journalist to “have a little moment here.”
Last night’s Royal Variety Performance in the UK was on ITV and featured performances from Jessie J and Stephen Fry.
