She’s the moment.

Per her Letterboxd, Charli XCX watched Christopher Guest’s Hollywood parody mockumentary about awards season, For Your Consideration, on September 6, 2024, right in the middle of brat fever. The pop star gave the film five stars. Is that how we ended up with The Moment? The teaser for Charli’s upcoming tour mockumentary debuted on November 20, shot behind the scenes at Charli’s actual tour dates. In it, Charli plays a parody version of herself, self-important and self-serious, as she attempts to control the brat phenomenon. “Nothing is more important than Brat,” she claims. Maybe, as comedian Tessa Belle theorized on StraightioLab, Charli XCX really is the new Judd Apatow. At one point in the chaotic trailer soundtracked by A.G. Cook, there’s silence. Then, a mannequin clatters to the floor from the ceiling and breaks apart. “Is that supposed to be me?” Charli XCX worries. It is.

Aside from Charli herself, the stacked cast includes Kylie Jenner doing the “Apple” dance, Rachel Sennott demanding the mockumentarians cut a clip of her, and Atropia director Hailey Benton Gates warning Charli something is “a fucking disaster.” They’ll be joined in the film by a bunch of “It” girls (non-gendered) of various disciplines. The professional actor class has Alexander Skarsgård, Isaac Cole Powell, and Rosanna Arquette; comedians featured include Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, and Richard Perez; and then there are random cool people, like Interview magazine editor Mel Ottenberg. Directed by Charli’s frequent music-video collaborator Aidan Zamiri, who also co-wrote the script with British satirist Bertie Brandes, the film is “based on an original idea by Charli XCX,” per a press release. The A24-produced film debuts in theaters on January 30, 2026. Get ready for the true This Is Spinal Tap sequel.
