A recent acquisition aims to strengthen participation in the tech space.

Career Karma

As AFROTECH™ previously told you, Ruben Harris (CEO) and Timur Meyster (chief product officer) are the co-founders of Career Karma, a platform launched in 2018 to help people find opportunities in the tech industry. Artur Meyster, a co-founder and chief technology officer, announced in 2024 he was stepping down.

According to its website, Career Karma provides users with information on roles that align with their career trajectory, and then they receive personalized coaching and are matched to top boot camps based on financial need, pace of learning, and other factors. Harris wrote in a LinkedIn post that the platform has already helped millions and aims to reach 1 billion users over 10 years.

Now, Career Karma has been acquired by Climb Credit, a student payment platform, according to a press release. The intention behind the acquisition is to improve discovery tools for students, personalize support as students enroll, and create overall greater efficiency for learners and the schools serving them. As for schools, the acquisition is set to offer them better “enrollment outcomes through 1:1 advising from Career Karma advisors” and more “qualified, better-matched prospective students with insights on their financial readiness,” and more.

Additionally, TripleTen, an online coding boot camp for career changers, will join as a partner.

“For over a decade, Climb has worked to remove financial, informational, and motivational barriers to career education,” Casey Powers, CEO of Climb Credit, said in a press release. “This acquisition isn’t just about scaling — it’s about impact. We’re building a platform that serves students across many different industries, from healthcare to the skilled trades, reflecting the diverse opportunities learners are pursuing today. Together, we’re helping learners not only finance their education but confidently choose the right path for their future.”

Harris describes the acquisition as a “milestone” and mentions that the focus will now be on OutRival, which was created by the Career Karma founders. As AFROTECH™ previously told you, OutRival is an AI-powered platform that deploys conversational AI agents to replace interactive voice response systems and business process outsourcing, allowing teams to focus on relationship building instead of habitual tasks.

“Today marks a major milestone for our team and community. For years, Career Karma has helped millions of adults navigate their careers, discover training programs, and land new roles,” Harris said on LinkedIn. “Climb Credit, Casey Powers and her team share our mission to expand access to career aligned education and will take what we built even further, helping learners not just find programs but get the financial support to start them.”

He continued, “For Timur Meyster, Artur Meyster, and me, this move allows us to focus fully on building OutRival. What started as a simple idea has grown into a Conversational AI Platform that now handles over a million calls every month for some of the most respected universities in the country.”
