Notes appear atop chats, support replies, and customizable duration
Meta says update improves visibility and ease of use via profile “About”

WhatsApp is reintroducing an updated version of its profile “Notes” feature, allowing users to share their current activities or mood. The Meta-owned messaging platform announced the rollout would reach all users gradually beginning this week.

The company described this as an enhancement of its original “Status” section, which predated WhatsApp’s private messaging function. “Today we’re reintroducing and improving About, making it more visible, timely, and easier to use. For those days when you’re free one minute but busy the next – About can tell others why you can’t talk or what you do want to talk about with just an emoji and a short phrase,” WhatsApp stated on its official blog.

The redesigned feature places notes at the top of individual chats and user profiles, with added functionality for direct replies. Users can control note duration, with automatic expiration after one day unless manually adjusted. The update enables custom timing through Settings, allowing notes to disappear sooner or remain visible for longer periods according to user preference.
