Two people have been arrested after a five month investigation into a cash-in-transit vehicle robbery at Sylvia Park in Auckland.
Police said the investigation began after $210,000 was allegedly taken when a firearm was presented at security guards on April 9.
Around the time, police located a vehicle on fire which was believed to have been used to flee from the shopping centre. Offenders had left the area.
Detective Senior Sergeant Matthew Bunce said: “Fortunately, no one suffered any injuries as a result of the offending.”
This morning, suspects were awoken at properties in rural south Auckland after investigators executed three search warrants, assisted by the armed offenders squad.
Bunce said: “Police have interviewed the pair and laid serious charges against them for the Sylvia Park robbery.”
A 50-year-old Tuakau man and a 28-year-old Paerata man were due to appear in the Auckland District Court today.
