Mananthavady: Thanks to the honesty of three women, a distressed Kanarankutty has received his lost pension money back.

It was the pension amount that Kutiyattu Kanarankutty, a resident of Orappu in Kallodi, had withdrawn from the Kallodi Grameen Bank. Of the Rs.3,600 he received from the bank, Rs.1,100 had already been spent. It was while checking his pocket after leaving a shop at Kallodi that he realised the remaining Rs.2,500 had gone missing. Worried about how he would manage until the next pension arrived, he returned home dejected.

The cash had accidentally fallen into a carry bag belonging to Sumathi, Kanika and Elsy of the Karangode settlement at Edavaka, which they had placed at the shop while buying provisions. The women, who did not notice it at the time, discovered the money only after reaching home and shifting the items they had purchased.

Without hesitation, they returned to the shop at Kallodi and informed the staff about the unexpected money. Soon after, the amount was handed over to a relieved Kanarankutty, who had been sitting at home distressed.
