Netflix has released two new character posters from Stranger Things Season 5, finally giving fans an official look at the mystery-shrouded roles of Mr. Whatsit and Max Mayfield. The posters come just days after Volume 1’s debut and ahead of the highly anticipated Volume 2 premiere on December 25.
New posters for Henry and Max in Stranger Things Season 5
Netflix expanded its promotional push for Stranger Things Season 5 by releasing new posters that focus on two of the season’s most significant late-revealed characters. While the streamer had previously dropped 17 posters featuring The Party, Dr. Kay, Karen Wheeler, and more, Max and Henry Creel were conspicuously missing. Their initial seclusion now makes sense, as their reintroductions served as major twists in the first four episodes.
In Stranger Things Volume 1, Henry Creel returns in his original human form, hiding under the alias Mr. Whatsit. He befriends young children and lures them into a supposed “safe” haven inside his 1950s Hawkins-inspired mental world known as Camazotz. One of those children is Holly Wheeler, who unexpectedly finds help from Max Mayfield despite Max’s real body lying comatose in Hawkins General Hospital.
The first poster features Jamie Campbell Bower as Henry Creel in his unsettling Mr. Whatsit persona. Although Vecna resurfaces in Chapter 4, Netflix has yet to debut a Season 5 poster specifically featuring his monstrous form.
The second poster has Sadie Sink’s Max Mayfield. Although Max is active in Henry’s mental prison, her physical condition remains unchanged. In earlier reports, she was said to remain comatose until “midway” through Season 5, a detail that lines up with her ongoing storyline.
Episode 6, titled “Escape from Camazotz,” hints at how Max and Vecna may shape Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2. Max may lead Holly and the other captured children to freedom within Henry’s mental world, while the rest of the group works to locate and secure their real bodies outside. For now, fans have gotta wait to see what happens next.
